about me

I began teaching art classes in 2007 at Holdman Studios, an art glass studio, in Lehi Utah.  That experience led me to pursue a degree in Art Education at Brigham Young University, which I received in 2009.  I have taught children's art classes as well as 2 1/2 years of high school art classes at Paradigm High School in South Jordan, UT.  My art experiences range from bronze sculpture and stained glass to a mural in a library in India.  I am so excited to start teaching in my own studio, with no worries about grades or a strict schedule!  My teaching philosophy has much to do with a quote by Sir Isaac Newton,

"If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants"

We have so much to learn from the great artists that left their masterpieces for us to enjoy and learn from as well as contemporary artists that help us examine the world we live in and our relationship to it. An artist/artwork will be our teacher in each of the classes that are taught.  We will learn from their techniques, subject matter, medium, and/or philosophy   We will have workshops where we do the same practices, then students will use what they have learned to create their own work.  The classes build off of each other.
